‘Venom’ Revealed Why Symbiote Doesn’t Have Spider Symbol On His Chest

Venom symbiote

During San Diego Comic-Con 2018, Sony unveiled new footage from the Venom telling Tom Hardy’s costume will not have spider symbol on his chest.

In the last trailer, we only get to see Venom donning Eddie Brock. But didn’t reveal his full appearance. But exclusive footage from the Comic-Con confirmed upcoming live-action Venom would not be the same as Venom from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3.

2018’s most anticipated Sony’ Venom is going to be wild when Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock wears symbiote suit. But why Venom’s costume will have a spiderless symbol.

To clear misunderstanding among fans, director Ruben Fleischer explained to IGN that,

If you are familiar with the comics, in Venom, there are just parts of white within his suit. Because our anti-hero does not originate from Spider-Man, it makes no sense to put a spider on his chest. We tried to be as accurate as we possibly could, even though some people feel it’s incorrect, but there is a lot of white, and we wanted to give him a unique pattern.”

Spider-Man is Venom’s one of the famous arch-enemy. When alien symbiote bonded with Peter Parker, it takes the appearance of Spider-Man’s suit, and that’s why symbiote’s outfit looks similar to web-slinger.

Further director elaborate that,

If you have an all-black character, especially in night scenes, he just kind of disappears. Since we couldn’t use the Spider-Man symbol, we wanted to give him another graphic element, and those veins that kind of form a shape on his chest was an original idea that we just thought looked cool.

From the above Fleischer’s statement, it looks like Venom will have another kind of cool looking suit rather than traditional comics version of one.

Here is the official synopsis for Venom:

Follow the grim, dark tale of photographer Eddie Brock as he is roped into a conspiracy involving a shadowy scientific organization, and his bonding to a parasitic alien lifeform that leads him to become the monstrous vigilante Venom.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, Reid Scott.

Venom is going to infect the world on October 5, 2018.
