Gambit is an upcoming spin-off of the X-Men series which will focus on the character of Remy LeBeau AKA Gambit. Channing Tatum was cast as Gambit to portray the role. The movie will be directed by Gore Verbinski and is intended to be the next installment of the X-Men film series.
Before actual filming starts, lately, there was a new addition to Gambit’s making. As per the report from Omega Underground, Fox studio has hired Oscar-Nominated production designer Jess Gonchor who is best known for his work with the Coen Brothers.
Jess is a perfect choice for the movie because he has previously worked with both the film’s director Gore and Tatum on movies like The Lone Ranger, Foxcatcher, and Hail, Caesar! His previous work also includes True Grit, No Country For Old Men, Inside Llewyn Davis, Burn After Reading, Live By Night, A Serious Man, and Moneyball.
After the huge success of Wolverine, producer Lauren Shuler Donner declared that Gambit is one of his favorite X-Men character that he wanted to make a movie based on him. Originally, Taylor Kitsch had played the Gambit’s character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine but was not well received. In the re-created movie he wanted to reprise his role. Unfortunately, Fox wanted someone else to take over the role.
In the X-Men comics, like other mutants, he possesses the ability to change matter with explosive bio-kinetic energy. His favorite weapons are cards as well as a long metal staff.
Besides all the other aspects of this film, Gambit is expected to start filming in between January and February. Earlier in the October, Fox stated that the film has been set to release on February 14, 2019.
