Co-executive producer of The Flash TV series, Eric Wallace has been announced as new showrunner for the upcoming Season 6. Current showrunner Todd Helbing will step down his role at the end of the fifth season.
Helbing’s reason behind such moves is to focus on development for new Warner Bros.TV. The Flash series becomes quite a tiresome since past few months except its Arrowverse crossover events. Hence taking into consideration, Helbing must have decided to make such a decision.
As per reports from Hollywood Reporter, The Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti said in a statement,
From his first day on The Flash, Todd Helbing has been a leader on the show, beloved by the cast and crew for his exceptional talent, vision, and pleasant attitude. We are all sad to see him go, but we will all be better for the many shows he will no doubt create and run in the future. Eric Wallace has proven his exceptional talent and voice since season four, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to watch how he shapes the future of Team Flash and the many thrilling adventures that lay ahead for our characters and dedicated fans.
Todd Helbing has been with the Flash team since Season 2 and served as showrunner since season 4. Alongside him, new showrunner Wallace worked as exec producer for the Flash season 5.
The Flash airs every Tuesday, 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET at the CW.
